In Memory of COVID-19

When taking the Hornet for a WOF following on from Level 3, it was interesting to see the COVID-19 precautionary process being worked through by the garage. First I was handed a sheet explaining the do’s and don’ts for customers whilst on the premises. The steering wheel, door handles and gear lever were all wiped down with a disinfectant wipe, the seat had a disposable plastic cover put over it, and a new pair of disposable gloves were worn by the tester. At the end of the testing, all of those items were disposed of into a sealed bag, and the test sheet and an invoice were left on the seat. Payment was made on the internet when I got home. Apparently, a Worksafe inspector had been seen checking nearby businesses were doing everything correctly – they would have been impressed by this mechanic I’m sure.

A bit of fun was generated by a friend of mine during the COVID-19 Lockdown and I had to write a poem. This is what came to me.

No Wilma we can’t go out today, we have to stay at home,

No Wilma we can’t go out today, we have to stay at home,

No Wilma we can’t go out today, we have to stay at home,

NO! Wilma we can’t go out today, we have to stay at home,

YES! Wilma we can go out today, I need to stock the bar!

And now you know, ‘Wilma’ is my beloved little car.

Being confined to home except to buy food, fuel, medicine or walk for exercise seems a distant memory, yet it was for five weeks plus, depending on personal circumstances.
